Let's not confuse the strong-conservative with the radical fringe "religious right".
Most of what is attributed to the "Religious Right" is, in my opinion, simply average conservatives to strong conservatives who are fed-up with the rampant liberalization of the US.
While the folks in the radical fringe would be considered "Strong Conservative", I think they are a minority within the party. Most of the GOP is average people who hold conservative personal values, and vote accordingly (taking the lesser of the two weak options to choose from).
